Betty and Gabby made some cheese muffins and cranberry muffins. Betty made 10 more cheese muffins than cranberry muffins. Gabby made 140 more cranberry muffins than cheese muffins. The total number of cheese muffins made up 45% of the total number of muffins they made. How many cranberry muffins did they make altogether?

Number of cranberry muffins = 1 u
Number of cheese muffins = 1 u + 10

Gabby
Number of cheese muffins = 1 p
Number of cranberry muffins = 1 p + 140

Number of cranberry muffins in percent
= 100% - 45%
= 55%

1 u + 10 + 1 p = 45% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 140 = 55% --- (2)

(2) - (1)
55% - 45% = 140 - 10
10% = 130

1% = 130 ÷ 10 = 13

Number of cranberry muffins that they made altogether
= 55%
= 55 x 13
= 715
