Eva and Kylie made some chocolate chip puffs and vanilla puffs. Eva made 12 more chocolate chip puffs than vanilla puffs. Kylie made 180 more vanilla puffs than chocolate chip puffs. The total number of chocolate chip puffs made up 36% of the total number of puffs they made. How many vanilla puffs did they make altogether?

Number of chocolate chip puffs = 1 u + 12

Kylie

Number of vanilla puffs = 1 p + 180

Number of vanilla puffs in percent
= 100% - 36%
= 64%

1 u + 12 + 1 p = 36% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 180 = 64% --- (2)

64% - 36% = 180 - 12
28% = 168

1% = 168 ÷ 28 = 6

Number of vanilla puffs that they made altogether
= 64%
= 64 x 6
= 384
