The total number of persimmons is the multiples of 7 since each bag contained 7 persimmons.
Multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49

The total number of persimmons given to the 8 friends is the multiples of 8 since there were 8 friends.
Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48

The total number of persimmons is the multiples of 8 with an added 2 persimmons since Opal ate 2 persimmons.
Multiples of 8 (+2): 10, 18, 26, 34, 42, 50

Number of persimmons that Opal bought = 42
