Xylia bought some bags of mangosteens. Each bag contained 8 mangosteens. The total number of mangosteens Xylia bought was less than 60. Xylia ate 2 mangosteens and gave the rest equally to her 6 friends.

The total number of mangosteens is the multiples of 8 since each bag contained 8 mangosteens.
Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56

The total number of mangosteens given to the 6 friends is the multiples of 6 since there were 6 friends.
Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54

The total number of mangosteens is the multiples of 6 with an added 2 mangosteens since Xylia ate 2 mangosteens.
Multiples of 6 (+2): 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, 50, 56

Number of mangosteens that Xylia bought = 56
