Eva bought some bags of chikoos. Each bag contained 7 chikoos. The total number of chikoos Eva bought was less than 40. Eva ate 3 chikoos and gave the rest equally to her 8 friends.

The total number of chikoos is the multiples of 7 since each bag contained 7 chikoos.
Multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35

The total number of chikoos given to the 8 friends is the multiples of 8 since there were 8 friends.
Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24, 32

The total number of chikoos is the multiples of 8 with an added 3 chikoos since Eva ate 3 chikoos.
Multiples of 8 (+3): 11, 19, 27, 35

Number of chikoos that Eva bought = 35

Number of chikoos that Eva gave to each friend
= (35 - 3) ÷ 8
= 32 ÷ 8
= 4
