Anna bought some bags of apples. Each bag contained 6 apples. The total number of apples Anna bought was less than 50. Anna ate 3 apples and gave the rest equally to her 9 friends.

The total number of apples is the multiples of 6 since each bag contained 6 apples.
Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48

The total number of apples given to the 9 friends is the multiples of 9 since there were 9 friends.
Multiples of 9: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45

The total number of apples is the multiples of 9 with an added 3 apples since Anna ate 3 apples.
Multiples of 9 (+3): 12, 21, 30, 39, 48

Number of apples that Anna bought = 48

= (48 - 3) ÷ 9
= 45 ÷ 9
