They collected $3 for a small cup of soda and $7 for a big cup of soda.

The table shows the number of cups sold by three of the teams.

3. Team B sold as many cups of soda as Team D but collected $24 less. How many small cups of soda did Team D sell?

Amount collected by Team A = 57 + 28
= $85

Amount collected by Team B
= 14 x 3 + 9 x 7
= 42 + 63
= $105

Amount collected by Team C
= 9 x 3 + 10 x 7
= 27 + 70
= $97

Team A collected the least money.

Since Team B and Team D sold the same number of cups but Team B collected $24 less, it means that Team D sold more big cups than Team B.

Difference in the total amount collected between Team B and Team D = $24

Difference in the amount collected for every one extra big cup sold by Team D
= 7 - 3
= $4

Number of extra big cups sold by Team D
= 24 ÷ 4
= 6

Number of small cups sold by Team D
= 14 - 6
= 8
