They collected $7 for a small cup of ice cream and $10 for a big cup of ice cream.

The table shows the number of cups sold by three of the teams.

3. Team V sold as many cups of ice cream as Team X but collected $21 less. How many small cups of ice cream did Team X sell?

Amount collected by Team V
= 14 x 7 + 7 x 10
= 98 + 70
= $168

Amount collected by Team W
= 9 x 7 + 10 x 10
= 63 + 100
= $163

Team U collected the least money.

Since Team V and Team X sold the same number of cups but Team V collected $21 less, it means that Team X sold more big cups than Team V.

Difference in the amount collected for every one extra big cup sold by Team X
= 10 - 7
= $3

Number of extra big cups sold by Team X
= 21 ÷ 3
= 7

Number of small cups sold by Team X
= 14 - 7
= 7
