Roshel baked some muffins. She gave ¹₆ of the muffins to her friends and 100 to her students. She was left with ¹₂ of the muffins. She packed these into 19 boxes. Some boxes contained 5 muffins while the rest contained 10 muffins.

1. How many muffins were packed into the 19 boxes?
2. How many boxes contained 10 muffins?

Fraction of the muffins given to her students
= 1 - ¹₆ - ¹₂

= 1 - ¹₆ - ³₆
= ²₆

Number of muffins that Roshel gave to her students = 2 u

2 u = 100

1 u = 100 ÷ 2 = 50

Number of muffins that were packed in 19 boxes
= 3 u
= 3 x 50
= 150

Number of muffins that were packed in 19 boxes = 150

If all the muffins are packed in boxes of 10, the number of muffins needed
= 19 x 10
= 190

Small difference
= 190 - 185
= 5

Big difference
= 190 - 150
= 40

Number of boxes of 5 muffins 
= 40 ÷ 5
= 8

Number of boxes of 10 muffins
= 19 - 8
= 11
