Gabby baked some muffins. She gave ¹₆ of the muffins to her relatives and 120 to her friends. She was left with ¹₂ of the muffins. She packed these into 20 boxes. Some boxes contained 6 muffins while the rest contained 11 muffins.

1. How many muffins were packed into the 20 boxes?
2. How many boxes contained 11 muffins?

Fraction of the muffins given to her friends
= 1 - ¹₆ - ¹₂

= 1 - ¹₆ - ³₆
= ²₆

Number of muffins that Gabby gave to her friends = 2 u

2 u = 120

1 u = 120 ÷ 2 = 60

Number of muffins that were packed in 20 boxes
= 3 u
= 3 x 60
= 180

Number of muffins that were packed in 20 boxes = 180

If all the muffins are packed in boxes of 11, the number of muffins needed
= 20 x 11
= 220

Small difference
= 220 - 215
= 5

Number of boxes of 11 muffins
= 20 - 8
= 12
