Cost of 3 blazers

Cost of 1 windbreaker = 3 u

Fraction of Barbara's money spent on each blazer
= ¹₆ x ¹₇
= ¹₄₂

¹₇ of her money = 6 u
⁶₇ of her money = 6 x 6 u = 36 u

Barbara's remaining money = 36 u

Cost of the necklace
= ¹₄ x 36 u
= 9 u

Amount that Barbara spent more on the necklace than on the 3 blazers
= 9 u - 3 u
= 6 u

6 u = 66

1 u = 66 ÷ 6 = 11

⁷₇ of her money = 7 x 6 u = 42 u

Amount that Barbara had at first
= 42 u
