Cost of 5 jumpsuits
= 5 x 1 u
= 5 u

Cost of 1 dress = 3 u

Cost of 1 dress and 5 jumpsuits
= 3 u + 5 u
= 8 u

Fraction of Sarah's money spent on each jumpsuit
= ¹₈ x ¹₈
= ¹₆₄

¹₈ of her money = 8 u
⁷₈ of her money = 7 x 8 u = 56 u

Sarah's remaining money = 56 u

Cost of the ring
= ¹₂ x 56 u
= 28 u

Amount that Sarah spent more on the ring than on the 5 jumpsuits
= 28 u - 5 u
= 23 u

23 u = 644

1 u = 644 ÷ 23 = 28

⁸₈ of her money = 8 x 8 u = 64 u

Amount that Sarah had at first
= 64 u
