Cost of 5 coats
= 5 x 1 u
= 5 u

Cost of 1 vest = 3 u

Cost of 1 vest and 5 coats
= 3 u + 5 u
= 8 u

Fraction of Erika's money spent on each coat
= ¹₈ x ¹₁₀
= ¹₈₀

(b)
¹₁₀ of her money = 8 u
⁹₁₀ of her money = 9 x 8 u = 72 u

Erika's remaining money = 72 u

Cost of the bracelet
= ⁴₅ x 72 u
= 57.6 u

Amount that Erika spent more on the bracelet than on the 5 coats
= 57.6 u - 5 u
= 52.6 u

52.6 u = 1472.8

1 u = 1472.8 ÷ 52.6 = 28

¹⁰₁₀ of her money = 10 x 8 u = 80 u

Amount that Erika had at first
= 80 u
= 80 x 28
