Cost of 5 jumpsuits
= 5 x 1 u
= 5 u

Cost of 1 sweater = 3 u

Cost of 1 sweater and 5 jumpsuits
= 3 u + 5 u
= 8 u

Fraction of Tammy's money spent on each jumpsuit
= ¹₈ x ¹₄
= ¹₃₂

¹₄ of her money = 8 u
³₄ of her money = 3 x 8 u = 24 u

Tammy's remaining money = 24 u

Cost of the ring
= ²₃ x 24 u
= 16 u

Amount that Tammy spent more on the ring than on the 5 jumpsuits
= 16 u - 5 u
= 11 u

11 u = 187

1 u = 187 ÷ 11 = 17

⁴₄ of her money = 4 x 8 u = 32 u
