Cost of 3 skirts
= 3 x 1 u
= 3 u

Cost of 1 vest = 2 u

Cost of 1 vest and 3 skirts
= 2 u + 3 u
= 5 u

Fraction of Tammy's money spent on each skirt
= ¹₅ x ¹₄
= ¹₂₀

(b)
¹₄ of her money = 5 u
³₄ of her money = 3 x 5 u = 15 u

Tammy's remaining money = 15 u

Cost of the bracelet
= ¹₂ x 15 u
= 7.5 u

Amount that Tammy spent more on the bracelet than on the 3 skirts
= 7.5 u - 3 u
= 4.5 u

4.5 u = 72

1 u = 72 ÷ 4.5 = 16

⁴₄ of her money = 4 x 5 u = 20 u

Amount that Tammy had at first
= 20 u
= 20 x 16
= $320
