Cost of 3 shirts
= 3 x 1 u
= 3 u

Cost of 1 vest = 2 u

Cost of 1 vest and 3 shirts
= 2 u + 3 u
= 5 u

Fraction of Pamela's money spent on each shirt
= ¹₅ x ¹₇
= ¹₃₅

(b)
¹₇ of her money = 5 u
⁶₇ of her money = 6 x 5 u = 30 u

Pamela's remaining money = 30 u

Cost of the ring
= ¹₄ x 30 u
= 7.5 u

Amount that Pamela spent more on the ring than on the 3 shirts
= 7.5 u - 3 u
= 4.5 u

4.5 u = 130.5

1 u = 130.5 ÷ 4.5 = 29

⁷₇ of her money = 7 x 5 u = 35 u

Amount that Pamela had at first
= 35 u
= 35 x 29
= $1015
