Cost of 4 dresses
= 4 x 1 u
= 4 u

Cost of 1 sweater = 3 u

Cost of 1 sweater and 4 dresses
= 3 u + 4 u

Fraction of Lucy's money spent on each dress
= ¹₇ x ¹₆
= ¹₄₂

¹₆ of her money = 7 u
⁵₆ of her money = 5 x 7 u = 35 u

Lucy's remaining money = 35 u

Cost of the bracelet
= ²₇ x 35 u
= 10 u

Amount that Lucy spent more on the bracelet than on the 4 dresses
= 10 u - 4 u
= 6 u

6 u = 138

1 u = 138 ÷ 6 = 23

⁶₆ of her money = 6 x 7 u = 42 u

= 42 u
