Jade and Emily each had a plate of dough of the same mass for making sandwiches. The same mass of dough was used for each sandwich. Jade made 35 sandwiches and had 375 g of dough left. Emily made 19 sandwiches and had 1.095 kg of dough left.

1. What was the mass of dough needed for each sandwich?
2. With the remaining dough from both girls, how many more such sandwiches can be made at most?

Difference between the number of sandwiches made by Jade and Emily
= 35 - 19
= 16

1 kg = 1000 g
1.095 kg = 1.095 x 1000 = 1095 g

Difference between the remaining dough left by Emily and Jade
= 1095 - 375
= 720 g

Mass of 16 sandwiches = 720 g

Mass of 1 sandwich
= 720 ÷ 16
= 45 g

(b)
Total remaining dough left
= 1095 + 375
= 1470 g

Sets of 45 g
= 1470 ÷ 45
= 32 r 30

Number of sandwiches = 32
