Penelope and Gabby each had a plate of dough of the same mass for making muffins. The same mass of dough was used for each muffin. Penelope made 33 muffins and had 330 g of dough left. Gabby made 15 muffins and had 1.05 kg of dough left.

1. What was the mass of dough needed for each muffin?
2. With the remaining dough from both girls, how many more such muffins can be made at most?

Difference between the number of muffins made by Penelope and Gabby
= 33 - 15
= 18

1 kg = 1000 g
1.05 kg = 1.05 x 1000 = 1050 g

Difference between the remaining dough left by Gabby and Penelope
= 1050 - 330
= 720 g

Mass of 18 muffins = 720 g

Mass of 1 muffin
= 720 ÷ 18
= 40 g

(b)
Total remaining dough left
= 1050 + 330
= 1380 g

Sets of 40 g
= 1380 ÷ 40
= 34 r 20

Number of muffins = 34
