Winnie and Kimberly each had a plate of dough of the same mass for making muffins. The same mass of dough was used for each muffin. Winnie made 41 muffins and had 415 g of dough left. Kimberly made 21 muffins and had 1.115 kg of dough left.

1. What was the mass of dough needed for each muffin?
2. With the remaining dough from both girls, how many more such muffins can be made at most?

Difference between the number of muffins made by Winnie and Kimberly
= 41 - 21
= 20

1 kg = 1000 g
1.115 kg = 1.115 x 1000 = 1115 g

Difference between the remaining dough left by Kimberly and Winnie
= 1115 - 415
= 700 g

Mass of 20 muffins = 700 g

Mass of 1 muffin
= 700 ÷ 20
= 35 g

(b)
Total remaining dough left
= 1115 + 415
= 1530 g

Sets of 35 g
= 1530 ÷ 35
= 43 r 25

Number of muffins = 43
