In a shop, candles are sold only in boxes. A box of 8 short candles costs $2.30 and a box of 5 long candles costs $4.40.

1. Rael wants 32 short candles and 3 long candles for his lanterns. What is the least amount of money that Rael will need to spend on the candles?
2. Tina bought 21 more long candles than short candles from the shop. The total number of candles she bought was fewer than 70. How much did Tina spend on the candles altogether?

= 32 ÷ 8
= 4 

Amount that Rael needs to spend on short candles
= 4 x 2.30
= $9.20

Least amount that Rael will need to spend
= 9.20 + 4.40
