Three boys, Rey, Jon and Zac had the same number of notes. Rey and Jon each had of mix of $10-notes and $5-notes. Rey had 9 $5-notes while Jon had 19 $5-notes. Zac had only $10-notes.

1. Of the three boys, who had the most money? 
2. What was the difference in the total value of Rey and Jon's notes? 
3. Jon used all his $10-notes to buy a gift. He then had $175 less than Zac. How many $10-notes did Zac have?

The three boys had the same number of notes.
$5-notes have a lower denomination than $10-notes.

Since Zac had only $10-notes, he had the most money.

(b)
Difference in the number of notes of different values
= 19 - 9
= 10

Difference in the value of $10-notes and $5-notes
= 10 - 5
= $5

Difference in the total value of Rey's and Jon's notes
= 10 x 5
= $50

(c)
Value of $5-notes that Jon had left
= 19 x 5
= $95

Total value that Zac had
= 175 + 95
= $270

Number of $10-notes that Zac had
= 270 ÷ 10
= 27
