- Dan used all his $10-notes to buy a souvenir. He then had $150 less than Nat. How many $10-notes did Nat have?
(a)
The three boys had the same number of notes.
$5-notes have a lower denomination than $10-notes.
Since Nat had only $10-notes, he had the most money.
(b)
Difference in the number of notes of different values
= 18 - 13
= 5
Difference in the value of $10-notes and $5-notes
= 10 - 5
= $5
Difference in the total value of Asa's and Dan's notes
= 5 x 5
= $25
(c)
Value of $5-notes that Dan had left
= 18 x 5
= $90
Total value that Nat had
= 150 + 90
= $240
Number of $10-notes that Nat had
= 240 ÷ 10
= 24
Answer(s): (a) Nat; (b) $25; (c) 24
