The 1st book is at 25% discount.
The 2nd book is at 35% discount.
The price of the 2nd book should be equal or lower than the price of the 1st book.

Barbara and Asher each bought two books at the sale.

1. Barbara's books were priced at $3 and $10. How much less did she pay for the 2nd book than the 1st book? 
2. Asher paid a total of $23.55 for his two books. He paid $7.95 more for the 1st book than for the 2nd book. What was the price of the 1st book before discount?

= 7.50 - 1.95
= $5.55

1 u = 15.60 ÷ 2 = 7.80

Sale price of the 1st book
= 1 u + 7.95
= $15.75

75% of the price = $15.75
100% of the price = ^15.75₇₅ x 100 = $21

Selling price of the 1st book before discount = $21
