PSLE At a basketball match, 25% of the tickets were sold at full price and 45% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 60 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $2660. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 25% - 45%
= 30%
30% → 60
1% → 60 ÷ 30 = 2
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 25% of the tickets
= 25 x 2
= 50
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 45% of the tickets
= 45 x 2
= 90

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 50 x 2 u + 90 x 1 u
= 100 u + 90 u
= 190 u
190 u = 2660
1 u = 2660 ÷ 190 = 14
Full price of the ticket
