PSLE At a theme park, 65% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 200 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $14560. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 65% - 10%
= 25%
25% → 200
1% → 200 ÷ 25 = 8
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 65% of the tickets
= 65 x 8
= 520
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 8
= 80

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 520 x 2 u + 80 x 1 u
= 1040 u + 80 u
= 1120 u
1120 u = 14560
1 u = 14560 ÷ 1120 = 13
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 13
= $26
Answer(s): $26
