PSLE At a theme park, 25% of the tickets were sold at full price and 65% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 20 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $3680. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 25% - 65%
= 10%
10% → 20
1% → 20 ÷ 10 = 2
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 25% of the tickets
= 25 x 2
= 50
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 65% of the tickets
= 65 x 2
= 130

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 50 x 2 u + 130 x 1 u
= 100 u + 130 u
= 230 u
230 u = 3680
1 u = 3680 ÷ 230 = 16
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 16
= $32
Answer(s): $32
