PSLE At a theme park, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 15% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 225 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $2100. What was the price of the ticket at half price?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 15%
= 75%
75% → 225
1% → 225 ÷ 75 = 3
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 3
= 30
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 15% of the tickets
= 15 x 3
= 45

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 30 x 2 u + 45 x 1 u
= 60 u + 45 u
= 105 u
105 u = 2100
1 u = 2100 ÷ 105 = 20
Price of the ticket at half price
= 1 u
= $20
Answer(s): $20
