PSLE At a theme park, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 75% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 30 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $5130. What was the price of the ticket at half price?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 75%
= 15%
15% → 30
1% → 30 ÷ 15 = 2
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 2
= 20
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 75% of the tickets
= 75 x 2
= 150

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 20 x 2 u + 150 x 1 u
= 40 u + 150 u
= 190 u
190 u = 5130
1 u = 5130 ÷ 190 = 27
Price of the ticket at half price
= 1 u
= $27
Answer(s): $27
