At a soccer match, 50% of the tickets were sold at full price and 45% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 40 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $17400. What was the price of the ticket at half price? 
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 50% - 45%
= 5%

5% → 40

1% → 40 ÷ 5 = 8

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 50% of the tickets
= 50 x 8
= 400

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 45% of the tickets
= 45 x 8
= 360

Value	2 u	1 u
Total value	800 u	360 u		1160 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 400 x 2 u + 360 x 1 u

= 1160 u

1160 u = 17400

1 u = 17400 ÷ 1160 = 15

Price of the ticket at half price 
= 1 u
= $15
