At a soccer match, 60% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 180 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $14040. What was the price of the ticket at half price? 
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 60% - 10%
= 30%

30% → 180

1% → 180 ÷ 30 = 6

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 60% of the tickets
= 60 x 6
= 360

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 6
= 60

Total value	720 u	60 u		780 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 360 x 2 u + 60 x 1 u

= 780 u

780 u = 14040

1 u = 14040 ÷ 780 = 18

Price of the ticket at half price 
= 1 u
= $18
