At a basketball match, 25% of the tickets were sold at full price and 25% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 500 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $7500. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 25% - 25%
= 50%

50% → 500

1% → 500 ÷ 50 = 10

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 25% of the tickets
= 25 x 10
= 250

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 25% of the tickets
= 25 x 10
= 250

Total value	500 u	250 u		750 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 250 x 2 u + 250 x 1 u

= 750 u

750 u = 7500

1 u = 7500 ÷ 750 = 10

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 10
= $20
