At a fun fair, 85% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 50 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $19800. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 85% - 10%
= 5%

5% → 50

1% → 50 ÷ 5 = 10

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 85% of the tickets
= 85 x 10
= 850

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 10
= 100

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 850 x 2 u + 100 x 1 u

1 u = 19800 ÷ 1800 = 11

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 11
= $22
