PSLE At a theme park, 65% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 225 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $18900. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 65% - 10%
= 25%
25% → 225
1% → 225 ÷ 25 = 9
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 65% of the tickets
= 65 x 9
= 585
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 9
= 90

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 585 x 2 u + 90 x 1 u
= 1170 u + 90 u
= 1260 u
1260 u = 18900
1 u = 18900 ÷ 1260 = 15
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 15
= $30
