At a carnival, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 70% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 100 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $12150. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 70%
= 20%

20% → 100

1% → 100 ÷ 20 = 5

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 5
= 50

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 70% of the tickets
= 70 x 5
= 350

Total value	100 u	350 u		450 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 50 x 2 u + 350 x 1 u

450 u = 12150

1 u = 12150 ÷ 450 = 27

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 27
= $54
