At a basketball match, 15% of the tickets were sold at full price and 30% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 220 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $5520. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 15% - 30%
= 55%

55% → 220

1% → 220 ÷ 55 = 4

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 15% of the tickets
= 15 x 4
= 60

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 30% of the tickets
= 30 x 4
= 120

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 60 x 2 u + 120 x 1 u

1 u = 5520 ÷ 240 = 23

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 23
= $46
