PSLE At a fun fair, 70% of the tickets were sold at full price and 15% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 75 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $20150. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 70% - 15%
= 15%
15% → 75
1% → 75 ÷ 15 = 5
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 70% of the tickets
= 70 x 5
= 350
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 15% of the tickets
= 15 x 5
= 75

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 350 x 2 u + 75 x 1 u
= 700 u + 75 u
= 775 u
775 u = 20150
1 u = 20150 ÷ 775 = 26
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 26
= $52
Answer(s): $52
