At a basketball match, 55% of the tickets were sold at full price and 40% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 40 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $31200. What was the price of the ticket at half price? 
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 55% - 40%
= 5%

5% → 40

1% → 40 ÷ 5 = 8

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 55% of the tickets
= 55 x 8
= 440

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 40% of the tickets
= 40 x 8
= 320

Value	2 u	1 u
Total value	880 u	320 u		1200 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 440 x 2 u + 320 x 1 u

= 1200 u

1200 u = 31200

1 u = 31200 ÷ 1200 = 26

Price of the ticket at half price 
= 1 u
= $26
