At a basketball match, 40% of the tickets were sold at full price and 50% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 90 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $15210. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 40% - 50%
= 10%

10% → 90

1% → 90 ÷ 10 = 9

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 40% of the tickets
= 40 x 9
= 360

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 50% of the tickets
= 50 x 9
= 450

Total value	720 u	450 u		1170 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 360 x 2 u + 450 x 1 u

1170 u = 15210

1 u = 15210 ÷ 1170 = 13

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 13
= $26
