PSLE At a theme park, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 560 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $5670. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 10%
= 80%
80% → 560
1% → 560 ÷ 80 = 7
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 7
= 70
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 7
= 70

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 70 x 2 u + 70 x 1 u
= 140 u + 70 u
= 210 u
210 u = 5670
1 u = 5670 ÷ 210 = 27
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 27
= $54
Answer(s): $54
