PSLE At a theme park, 20% of the tickets were sold at full price and 35% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 90 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $4050. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 20% - 35%
= 45%
45% → 90
1% → 90 ÷ 45 = 2
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 20% of the tickets
= 20 x 2
= 40
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 35% of the tickets
= 35 x 2
= 70

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 40 x 2 u + 70 x 1 u
= 80 u + 70 u
= 150 u
150 u = 4050
1 u = 4050 ÷ 150 = 27
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 27
= $54
Answer(s): $54
