PSLE At a fun fair, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 720 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $7560. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 10%
= 80%
80% → 720
1% → 720 ÷ 80 = 9
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 9
= 90
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 9
= 90

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 90 x 2 u + 90 x 1 u
= 180 u + 90 u
= 270 u
270 u = 7560
1 u = 7560 ÷ 270 = 28
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 28
= $56
Answer(s): $56
