At a fun fair, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 35% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 165 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $2805. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 35%
= 55%

55% → 165

1% → 165 ÷ 55 = 3

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 3
= 30

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 35% of the tickets
= 35 x 3
= 105

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 30 x 2 u + 105 x 1 u

1 u = 2805 ÷ 165 = 17

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 17
= $34
