At a fun fair, 50% of the tickets were sold at full price and 20% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 60 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $4800. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 50% - 20%
= 30%

30% → 60

1% → 60 ÷ 30 = 2

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 50% of the tickets
= 50 x 2
= 100

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 20% of the tickets
= 20 x 2
= 40

Total value	200 u	40 u		240 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 100 x 2 u + 40 x 1 u

240 u = 4800

1 u = 4800 ÷ 240 = 20

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 20
= $40
