PSLE At a theme park, 25% of the tickets were sold at full price and 35% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 400 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $22950. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 25% - 35%
= 40%
40% → 400
1% → 400 ÷ 40 = 10
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 25% of the tickets
= 25 x 10
= 250
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 35% of the tickets
= 35 x 10
= 350

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 250 x 2 u + 350 x 1 u
= 500 u + 350 u
= 850 u
850 u = 22950
1 u = 22950 ÷ 850 = 27
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 27
= $54
Answer(s): $54
