PSLE At a theme park, 20% of the tickets were sold at full price and 65% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 45 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $3780. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 20% - 65%
= 15%
15% → 45
1% → 45 ÷ 15 = 3
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 20% of the tickets
= 20 x 3
= 60
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 65% of the tickets
= 65 x 3
= 195

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 60 x 2 u + 195 x 1 u
= 120 u + 195 u
= 315 u
315 u = 3780
1 u = 3780 ÷ 315 = 12
Full price of the ticket

= 2 x 12
= $24
Answer(s): $24
