At a soccer match, 55% of the tickets were sold at full price and 15% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 120 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $8000. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 55% - 15%
= 30%

30% → 120

1% → 120 ÷ 30 = 4

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 55% of the tickets
= 55 x 4
= 220

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 15% of the tickets
= 15 x 4
= 60

Total value	440 u	60 u		500 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 220 x 2 u + 60 x 1 u

500 u = 8000

1 u = 8000 ÷ 500 = 16

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 16
= $32
