At a soccer match, 10% of the tickets were sold at full price and 20% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 490 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $3640. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 10% - 20%
= 70%

70% → 490

1% → 490 ÷ 70 = 7

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 7
= 70

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 20% of the tickets
= 20 x 7
= 140

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 70 x 2 u + 140 x 1 u

1 u = 3640 ÷ 280 = 13

Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 13
= $26
