PSLE At a theme park, 15% of the tickets were sold at full price and 65% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 100 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $9975. What was the full price of the ticket?
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 15% - 65%
= 20%
20% → 100
1% → 100 ÷ 20 = 5
Number of tickets sold at full price
= 15% of the tickets
= 15 x 5
= 75
Number of tickets sold at half price
= 65% of the tickets
= 65 x 5
= 325

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u
Total amount collected
= 75 x 2 u + 325 x 1 u
= 150 u + 325 u
= 475 u
475 u = 9975
1 u = 9975 ÷ 475 = 21
Full price of the ticket
= 2 u
= 2 x 21
= $42
Answer(s): $42
