Gem had a total of 100 orange and green beads. She used 46 orange beads and 50% of the green beads. After that, the ratio of the number of orange beads to green beads Gem had was 7 : 1.

1. What fraction of her green beads was Gem left with? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many more orange beads than green beads did Gem have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of green beads at first = 2 u
Number of orange beads at first = 7 u + 46

Total number of beads at first
= 2 u + 7 u + 46
= 9 u + 46

9 u + 46 = 100
9 u = 100 - 46
9 u = 54

1 u = 54 ÷ 9 = 6

Number of green beads in the end = 1 u
Number of orange beads in the end = 7 u

Number of more orange beads than green beads that Gem had in the end
= 7 u - 1 u
= 6 u
= 6 x 6
= 36
